This weekend was a four day weekend for us--teacher in service. With the kids home several days in a row, it reminded me how we go through cups like crazy. They get a drink, then put it in the sink. In a couple of hours they are thirsty and get out another cup. When we were homeschooling they had water bottles that they used. Now they take their water bottles to school, and enjoy using cups at home. Because of that, I am constantly hollering "whose cup is this?" but no one seems to be able to remember where they laid their cup last. At the beginning of the weekend I decided to write their names on a piece of paper, and set those on the counter . Those slowly got soggy....so I decided to use up the last square from the bulletin board that I cut apart for Brittany's room, and make our own personalized coasters.
First I traced five circles on the board, then cut them out with a utility knife.
I had the kids each pick what paper they wanted. Then we traced and cut out the paper circles.
We painted the edges of the board white, then we used modge podge to seal the paper to the board (I think I did about 4 coats).
P.s. I found out that the "insides" of the bulletin board were not very "sturdy". It kind of gave the edges a rough look, which wasn't bad, but just not what I had envisioned in my mind. Next time, I may look for cork board instead.
